This is a great thread with lots of memories. My mother said many times that she would live any place in the world as long as she could take the N Judah line to the Emporium.
Our first TV was purchased at the Emporium, and it was installed by my parents good friend George Scott who worked there in the radio/tv department. Incidently his daughter, Dolores Scott, posts here once in a while.
There was a blind lady with a dog who sat outside the Emporium selling pencils if I am not mistaken. My father who was a sucker for animals, would always give her something.
