My mother, Mary Griffin, grew up in Ocean View on Sagamore Street across from Pesce's Market. As a child in the fifties and early sixties, we often spent time visiting my grandfather, John Griffin, and my uncle, Tom Finn. We always went to Pesce's Market, my Mom grew up with the family. I can't remember all the names, but I remember Fred Pesce, Elmer Pesce and Johnny Pesce. We always bought salami for my Mom and they always gave us a free candy bar and said to say hello to our Mom. Of course, she always went there to visit. We had fun times running all over the place and playing on the railroad tracks behind the house with the damp fog blowing in from the ocean. I guess us Irish kids were a dime a dozen - we ran wild!
