I began Kindergarten at Parkside in the Fall of 1957, and seem to recall that the milk still came in small glass bottles that clinked together as the deliveryman carried them in a long wooden box with a handle. I know that the waxed cardboard milk cartons also existed at the time because we used them to make Christmas decorations--Santa in a chimney--but I still remember the sound and the feel of those little glass milk bottles.
