John, you lucky dog you. Tommy Saunders was the coolest DJ when I was in high school and even college. I sensed that he was a Cal student moonlighting on the radio. Being on the 9PM to midnight slot, he kind of had a free reign to play some non-top-40 songs, but he went too far one night when he played Bob Dylan singing Blowing in the Wind, a song that he had written. Peter, Paul and Mary had a hit with it, but KYA management thought the listening audience wasn't ready to hear Dylan singing Dylan. Tommy was a pioneer in what would become alternative radio.

Thanks for the memories, Tommy.
