The Rumpus Room was on the same side of Geary (north) as the Alexandria Theater and was between 18th and 19th Avenues. It was a small place and people waited in line to get in. It was common for the line to go around the block to 18th Avenue. I used to stand outside and listen to the music when I was in junior high school in the 1950s. I even still have an album by Rusty Draper. I don't remember Sherwood owning the place and changing the name, but I moved from 18th Avenue to 26th Avenue in 1957 or so.
