Regarding the Lincoln Highway, (US 40) A great summer days outing can be had by driving over the Sierra on old hwy 40, (most of which still exists adjacent to I-80.) For a less extensive side trip, get off the freeway at Donner Summit and take the old highway down to Donner Lake, it's a spectacular descent with great photo takes......
