I lived at 706 La Playa, right across from Playland, during the late 40's and all of the 50's. Our apartments/hotel was owned by George Whitney, and the building next door was the repair shop for Playland. My aunt, Jean, was the cashier at the Fun House, and also worked several of the other cashier booths, as well as being the hotel manager. My mother, Eva was also a cashier at Playland, and the gift shops at the Cliff House and Sutro Baths.

When not in school (first at Lafayette and then at St. Thomas)I spent every waking minute at Playland, Skateland, the Cliff House or Sutro Baths. I have so many fond memories of those years.
