I was at Frederic Burk as a first grader when it opened in 1956. My sister and I got to attend even though we didn't live in Parkmerced because my sister had started at Frederic Burk when it was at Laguna and Market campus of SF State. Little did I realize how fortunate I was at the time to have had elementary school teachers with Masters and working on PhDs. My favorite teacher was Ray Carney in fifth grade. He turned me on to poetry and jazz. For my birthday he gave me the album by Ray Charles "Genius + Soul = Jazz." SF public Library has photos, including one to remind us that there is no "k" nor "e" in Frederic Burk School. https://webbie1.sfpl.org/multimedia/sfphotos/AAD-3569.jpg
