REMEMBER? The "bird Whistle Man", who wandered around downtown selling whistles, toy birds, flags, etc., etc. Also the "little people" couple who ran the friendly newstand at Grant & Market for so many years, Watching doughnuts take form at Stockon & Ellis, Watching FREE sports films at lunch in the Roos Bros. theater. Attending Saturday movies at the Fox..(2nd feature was always a "B" film, usually a sappy romance, subject to juvenile laughter, hoots, & long-winded Razzzzzz-balloons launched from the upper balcony. The "good life" for kids in the Forties....
