Under the “you learn something new every day” big top, I stumbled upon the story of Herb Caen’s left hand man, Strange de Jim.
Never thinking him a real person but rather Herb’s alter-ego, I was quite surprised to stumble onto his bio. His man may well be Dorothy Parker in drag, so enjoy:
