As a boy, living in one of the rectangular houses on one of the rectangular blocks (43rd Avenue in the Sunset) in the 1950s, I had a random yet unrealistic idea. I was thinking how cool it would be (or in the parlance of that time, “neat”) if those huge back yards could be combined into one big park for use by everybody on the block. Yes! A place to play baseball!
