We all thought Jim would become a priest! Instead, he devoted himself to journalism, and to "write the truth." When he was the Editor of The Gater at SF State, he was badly beaten up (and hospitalized) during a "protest" which was actually nothing more than a useless and stupid riot.
He went on to be a Copy Editor for The San Francisco Examiner. He was shot while he was biking to work, by a jerk who was described as a "disgruntled former employee of a bus company." That jerk, also seriously wounded a passing motorist.
