Anyone remember in the mid 1950's April Fools Day prank promoted by a local SF radio station, "The Attack
Of The Giant Amoeba". It started as a parody to Orson Wells, 'War Of The Worlds'. They would interrupt regular programs to give a live up date on the progress and invasion of the Amoeba into the districts being effected. This went on for hours until the Fire Department and the Police and at that time Civil Defense Office all demanded the station stop the scare and claim it was an April 1st spoof. There was considerable panic and fear throughout the City.
