Paul’s memories are perfect for someone going to school in the Richmond District. I had similar experiences across the park in the Sunset during the same ancient times. Loved the memory of adhesive patches ironed on our pants plus of course covering our school books with whatever paper bags were handy. California Admission Day was a welcome early respite from whatever new grade were in, and of course the fall weather was always perfect. Living three blocks from Ocean Beach made life so much easier after school.
Finally being home by the time the streetlights came on is a perfect memory for those of us from that generation.
