One of the first questions when someone says they're from San Francisco is "what school did you go to?" It's which high school. It's a question I recently found out is also very prevalent in Hawai'i where it really defines who you are, social status - a myriad of possible stereotypes - but also a bit of community and hared experiences.
I went to Lincoln back when grammar school was k-6, Jr high was 7-9 and high school was 9-12. Class of 1970.
I absolutely hated it and the very last thing in the world I would want would be to go back to those days.
