In the recent August issue of the Sunset Beacon on page 10, it said that it has been discovered that big Tsunamis coming from Alaska to San Francisco occur every 164 to 257 years and so one will probably occur here sooner rather than later and that it will definitely swamp and destroy the lower Sunset District.

Yet, looking on an Atlas map, what I see very clearly is that any Tsunami coming from the direction of Alaska toward San Francisco will be shielded by the Point Reyes Peninsula to at least Daly City and possibly to as far south as Monterey.

I wonder if the people of the California Geological Survey took the Point Reyes peninsula into account when they issued that dire warning.
