This brought back memories of the impromptu weekend "midnight drag races" guys my age (back in the 60s) used to have on the Great Highway.

The "Car Boys" (both high school and college) with their souped-up vehicles would gather - along with their chums and girlfriends. It was well organized, with "rules" that must be followed, or the disobedient participant would be shunned and kicked out. Then, the police would show up, roll their eyes, and send us all home, always with a mild warning, and a threat to contact our parents.
The next weekend, it would happen all over again. :)

Here's a sentimental toast to an old boyfriend, Rich H., and his candy apple red Chevy!!!!
