Great article, Frank!
What immediately popped into my mind was the Condor Club sign in North Beach. When a friend turned 21, a group of us took him to the club to celebrate his first legal drink and, of course, see Carol Doda perform.
Since I didn't regularly go to night clubs, that sign, and all the other club neon signs in the area were quite impressive to me!!
