I too hope the closure is a brief one, and that once again I can enjoy an alcoholic beverage while looking out at the same amazing view that my parents, grandparents, and even great-great grandparents enjoyed.
As for the name, I read an interesting Twitter thread about whether or not the name "Cliff House" could actually be copyrighted. There are guidelines about copyrighting names, and ones that have been in public usage for long periods are sometimes exempt. (There's an apocryphal story about a guy who tried to copyright the name "wheelbarrow" and got rejected.) Since the name Cliff House has been in use since 1863 through multiple ownerships, might it fall into this category?
Any lawyers out there in our WNP world who could shed some light?
