The Kickoff; Ole's; The Woodshed. Can't remember the Irving and 16 Avenue bar's name right now. Never drank in any of them, but walked past them on my way to Laguna Honda School, the Sunset Library, and friend's houses. It was possible to drink underage in some bars long ago, but not in the neighborhood bars where they knew me and how old I was not. It must have been convenient to drink without driving because with all those bars, home was a short walk, with a car completely unnecessary. Now it's 6:46 pm--time for some mediocre wine to accompany the dinner I'm about to eat.
