Thanks for this subject - I still read the comics every day and twice on Sundays. I still rely on the newspaper for most of my news and and take the daily and Sunday Sacramento Bee and for the past 50 years subscribe to the Sunday S F Chronicle - a paper I would not totally give up when we moved up here.

I learned to read from the comics - the Examiner came every Sunday and I spread the comics on the floor and read them all - Prince Valiant absolutely my favorite! The Katzanjammer (SP?) Kids, Steve Canyon
and all the rest. I can't begin to remember what came in the Chronicle and what in the Examiner. Who was the space man? And where did the Phantom and Little Orphan Annie and so many of the other characters go? I have to give hurrahs to Schulz's 'Peanuts' and the leadoff to the current Sunday Chronicle's comic page, already mentioned above.
