Re: It is Quiet

Back in my ranger days I once led a class of inner-city kids on a nature hike in the Marin Headlands. For most, it was their first foray into the outdoors.

As we started the walk, I stopped at a poison oak bush and pointed out how to identify its three leaves, stressing it was bad news to touch it.

One little guy reached out, grabbed a handful of plant and shook it, telling everyone "I ain't afraid of no plant." His next few days must have been miserable.

Now, when I see these anti-social distancing folks railing about wearing masks and staying indoors, I just keep hearing "I ain't afraid of no plant."
