I grew up in the Parkside District. In 1957 my dad bought season tickets to the 49ers. We kept the tickets in the family until 2013 when the team moved to Santa Clara. I remember where I was as an 8 year old (not at the game) when the 49ers lost the famous playoff game to the Detroit Lions.
Our local library (Albany CA) sponsors author nights several times a year. Dave Newhouse the longtime sports writer for the Oakland Tribune came last December. He has written a book, Founding 49ers: The Dark Days Before the Dynasty about the 49ers of the 40s/50s/60s and early 70s.
He has some amusing and not so funny stories to tell.
