John- Thanks for clearing up the time frame for me (good memory). I recall seeing the who's Tommy performed at that venue in 70 or 71.
I also have a few very hazy memories of the slot car track In the mid 60's.
I hadn't realized that they both were housed in the same building.
I wonder what years the boxing gym was there?
For anybody that's interested, I did a search for playland
On the SF public library web site and came up with quite a few old pictures, some great stuff.
Warning-the picture of the fun house completely demolished
Will make you want to cry.
