One of my first summer jobs while I was in high school was working as the "locker boy" in city pools. This job was to lock and unlock lockers in the men's locker room and to clean the locker room. I still recall the pay, $1.60 an hour. The only pools where I worked were Balboa, out Ocean Ave., and Hamilton, which was in the Fillmore District. At that time Balboa was fairly new and very nice. I don't know whether they both still exist. Of course I went to Larson, and I went to Rossi in connection with a summer day camp.
