i just finished reading the new biography of malcom x by manning marable, which was one of the best-written books i have ever read. in the book are several length passages regarding maya angelou and her relationship with malcom x. what i hadn't realized until reading this book was that she came to san francisco at the young age and went to san francisco labor school (which i had not heard of before), dropped out and later attended and graduated from mission high school.
do any of you historians have any more interesting information regarding ms. angelou's stay in the city?
