Douglas DC-4 landing at SFO, 1956

A flight attendant lands a DC-4 airliner when the pilot is stricken. Great melodramatic scene of air traffic controllers showing off state of the art flight instrumentation and cool, cool Doris Day landing the plane.

The fun of is identifying Peninsula landscapes and scenes of old Mills Field/early SFO in its mid 1950s configuration. Oh yea, the title of the film this clip is from is, “Julie”.

Frank Grant should add his comments about flying a C-54 as that’s what he was flying at the end of W.W.II.
