Oh wow, I remember the rattle-trap buses to Westlake. A friend and I used to like to ride at Mar Vista Riding Academy in Daly City. Let's say we were truly devoted to it, because the only way to get out there without a car was to ride Muni to Stonestown, then take the little orange bus to Westlake, and walk the mile up to Skyline and the stables. (Try walking a mile in riding boots; it is not easy on your feet!) The buses always seemed to be all dented up and they did indeed rattle. It was all worth it to be able to ride.
