BOOKs - the best is "One Eye Closed, the Other Red: The California Bootlegging Years" by Clifford James Walker. It has a chapter on San Francisco. Home winemaking was comon in SF during prohibition. The grapes & material required was sold at a wholesale mart near the docks as well as squeezed grape juice. Speakeasies were everywhere including The Billows (Sheehan's) by the Big Dipper in Playland.
