You're on, Paul. Maybe we can dig a hole to China while we are at it. I hear they have some really cool stuff there. My heart is warmed as I recall when a pal invited you to play because it was really special and the "trophy" was laughter, joy and friendship. Is it my imagination or does food always taste better at the beach? As I write, the crunch of Jiff and sand resonates against my smile. As kids, somehow parents never factored into the play equation other than to set dinner time and monitor hand washing.
And at the risk of sounding too cynical in my first posting, I applaud this group for their charitable endeavor and for maybe teaching kids to think outside the box and widen their imaginations.
But somewhere, this smacks of parents writing kid's book reports and I stand firmly on wet sand supporting creative play for children. I fail to see how all the time structuring that Generations X & Y grew up with is effective since my experience with these younger folks is that they actually have more difficulty with time commitments in the work and social spheres. "Sorry" has become the perpetual "get out of jail free" card. Perhaps because we had all the time in the world to do nothing, we came to welcome a degree of structure early on that grew along with our responsibilities. Besides, what fun is ditching school and going to the beach if you have an open campus?
Cheers smeared with peanut butter and jelly,
