Everyone has pretty much covered all the activities I enjoyed as a kid in the late 50's. I would like to add that in addition to my Call and Progress paper routes, I got a Saturday job at a hardware/lumber yard my first year in high school. Most of my pals had either part time after school jobs, or 4 hour Saturday jobs at the many stores and businesses throughout the Sunset.

In the 1960's it was hard to patronize any business in the district without running into someone you went to school with. These included Drug Stores, Markets, Gas Stations, paint stores, ice cream parlors Delis and dry cleaners. I remember going down to Civic Center (Board of Education) to get my required 'work permit'.
