It was always my assumption the SF Unified School District built schools to serve the neighborhoods they were in. To the best of my recollection there were "boundries" that determined which school you attended. In my school "career" the farthest school I attended from my house (28th & Quintara) was St Cecilia's. Lincoln was only 4 blocks from my house as was Crespi where I attended Kindergarden. R. L. Stevenson was 8 or 9 blocks and Giannini about 12. Rediculous!
