My mother was in the SF Nursery for Homeless Children for several years in the early 1930's. She went to Sutro School. She told us many stories about the home, she also wrote several stories about the home. One of which talked about the Catholic kids walking on one side of the street, while the protestant kids walked on the other, to church on Sunday mornings. It was a sad time in her life. She just passed away on Thanksgiving 2013.
