When I think of "the accent" I think of Holy Name pastor ('55 to '70s)Monsignor Bill Flanagan, from St. Peters parish down on 24th St.
(SI guys out there; Tony Sauer(from Arizona) once said Mike Shaunessy'67 had the true SF accent.)Nolte's article is fascinating except I don't hear anyone I grew up with saying San "Pancisco". I thought it was something I missed the first time I read it but I now don't think it's true.
