I just scanned and posted a photo from the family collection of the old locomotive and cable car that used to be available for climbing upon by youth at the San Francisco Zoo.

SF Zoo Locomotive

When we went to the zoo (late 1960s and early 1970s) we barely got past the first section at the old entrance: the Mother's Building, the playground, Storyland... Give me a brick of pink popcorn and I was happy for the rest of the foggy day. It's a wonder I ever got to the manure-throwing chimpanzees.

Any memories of the Zoo playground/locomotive/cable car? I'm sure some train buffs here can tell me where these old rail relics are now. (The SP locomotive is numbered 1294. I can't see any numbers on the cable car...)
