I know nothing about the fight (but really liked hearing about the outcome-- the very limited interaction i had with Cassalagio gave me a negative impression).
And, I think you mean Mr. Ferrando (about whom students would pass the word that he once was a Golden Gloves boxer).
When i was at Giannini in the late 1970s, Cassalagio was full time in the counselors' office and Mr. Ferrando was the head of boys P.E. I don't remember Cassalagio ever being on the gym side of campus; Mr. Rosenblatt (Dean of Boys) would appear if there was a problem to be addressed. Maybe keeping their distance was the post- fight settlement.
Apparently that fight didn't derail their careers.
