I was driving to Salinas in the back seat of my dad's 41 Pontiac, which had to last us until they started building new cars again in 1946. The most memorable things were:
1 - Listening to the day of infamy speech in the Alamo auditorium from an old Zenith radio sitting on a chair on the stage, and
2 - The signs on the power poles advising the Japanese people of the deportations. Sadly few people were outraged.
