Very touching, Frank. Life is not a gift but a loan and we never know when it will be called in. Those close to us who pass before live on in our hearts.
We selected Holy Cross for Uncle Tom because it was Catholic, Joe DiMaggio is buried there and when you drive in the back way on a foggy day, it looks like Ireland with the rolling green hills and spirits dancing in the mist.
I'll pay my respects to "your people" next time I go to visit and be sure I allow enough time to toast the ghosts of Colma at Malloy's before heading home.
You are right; we are often fashioned and formed by relatives we meet only through legend. We are connected to our past by touching souls.
Blessings to you and yours this Thanksgiving,
jb
