Wasn't that about where one of the Jumbo's sites was? Jumbo's was a pre-McDonald's operation in San Francisco. The restaurant worker's unions for a long time kept the pressure on S.F. keep McDonald's out of the city. Sometime in the 60s, my brother and his real estate partners wanted to put in a McDonald's franchise on the site of the very old 'FAT BOY' franchise restaurant at LaPlaya and Lincoln Way that had been closed for years. That was at the southwest corner of GG Park. McDonald's was all for the idea but the city said "no way in hell". Probably would have been a wizard site for such a franchise operation.
