My condolences on your's and your family's loss and thanks for sharing such a personal part of SF history. Perhaps there is something in the soil of that sacred and tainted ground we call Playland. As a teen, I worked there in the mid to late 60's and the place, then, had the eerie hardedge of the carnie world and rip-offs were to be had at every booth for the price of a single quarter. As P.T. Barnum once said "there's a sucker born every minute and 2 to take em," and this seems to be the ethos and legacy of the last days of Playland.

For what it's worth "living well is the best revenge."
