My mother would take me shopping for my grandmother's groceries at Pine Lake Market. This was in the 60s and the meat market was owned by the Cecchi Brothers, Nello and Hugo I believe. I think there was also a variety store on the block. I remember vividly the greatly missed Johnson's Tamales- the wonderful smell, the bull's heads on the walls, the man with the big glasses wrapping the food with newspaper and twine. Is it my imagination or was there an Art Linkletter dance studio between the market and Johnson's?
