I find it ironic that those who want to destroy the mural are not aware of the history of the artist. Victor Artuanoff was painting these works as a critique of the American cult of Washington that was so prevalent in those years. This was a bold and courageous move to actually criticize the name sake of the school and enlighten about the true of American Colonial reality.
The murals speak the truth. They are not nationalistic propaganda. Artuanoff was a collaborator and student of Diego Rivera. To destroy these artworks is barbarism akin to Nazi book burning.
