Re: 1968, 50 years after the SF State Strike

Having grown up near the edge of Lake Merced during these times, I would watch the SFPD Mounted unit (on Horseback), slowly walk two-by-two around the lake, across the street from the Lowell football field, on their way to meet the ‘SFPD Tac Squad’ at SF State. This would be in the afternoon and that evening we knew to watch the ensuing conflicts on the local TV news. After 50 plus years…..I sometimes ponder: how have we improved regarding public-police relations, police crowd control, public speech and protest rights, and my favorite; individual civil responsibilities.
