Wow... Fifty years. How time does fly when you're having fun.
I totally get those mixed emotions, Paul. My dad was a fireman and I knew plenty of cops growing up. Most of them were just trying to get by until retirement.
I was a 16 year old sophomore at Lincoln and we headed over to State many times during the strike. It was the first - but not last - time I was teargassed.
As we move forward 50 years, it's interesting to see what has changed - and what has remained the same.
I was pretty blind to the racism that was in the San Francisco of my youth - but I'm shocked at the blatant racism of today all over the country. I just don't get it.
I vacillate between hope and despair - and am really happy I'm 66 and not 16, again - although after these past two years, I'm ready to get teargassed, again.
Being on the right side of history is important!
