In 1957 I was working at Bechtel at one of their buildings in downtown SF. 101 California was the location. I was in the bathroom on the 4th floor. Yes, the bathroom. I remember holding on to the walls on either side of me. Boy did I ever make a hasty departure!!!! My work space was on the 3rd floor next to a window. 101 California was a very old building and it did it's fair share of shaking. I remember leaving the building and walking across the street to a Standard gas station where I parked my car. I got out of downtown very quickly. That was probably the first "big" earthquake I experienced and I was 19 years old. Having just graduated from Poly in Jan of 1956.
