Back in 1974 at USF, a group of seniors sponsored THE FIRST AMATEUR AUTO RALLY AND COMPETITIVE CRUISING CLASSIC--which included a series of clue-like directions around SF, plus stopping at a dozen or two bars along the way, having a drink and keeping the receipt as proof (we had designated drivers, even in the old days!). The great meandering line of cars began near the school and ended up a few hours later at the home of one of the sponsors in the mid-Sunset. West Portal bars were amply represented.
