Re: Saying Good-bye to Family Home

I cleaned out my parents' house of almost 60 years a few years ago, and I went through the same pangs of nostalgia. They still had all of my skillfully assembled and painted models in a cabinet in a garage, but I saved only one, and my brother took another---the rest were left with the house to await the whims of the new owner. My model railroad layout found a new home with my brother's stepson and his little boy. Mom's mementos mostly went to the trash, though a few were kept as reminders of her passions. Dad's stuff went with him to the retirement home. I took photos of the entire house before the furniture was removed, but I couldn't bear to go back to it when fully emptied. I choose to remember it looking like a loving home.
