Re: RIP: Y. A. Tittle

As a kid I certainly remember watching the 49ers on TV with my dad during the 1950s. All us boys on the block wanted to be Y.A. Tittle when we tossed the football or played touch football. And yes we felt betrayed when he left to play for the NY Giants. It was one of those early lessons that life was subject to disappointment and unwanted change.

To compliment Candis Smyk Hurlbut's post remembering Y.A Tittle here's a wonderful article from the SF Chronicle regarding the 1950s era 49ers', 'Million Dollar Backfield' that featured Hugh McElhenny, Y.A. Tittle, Joe Perry, and John Henry Johnson.
