I can identify with Frank's experience. At the same time, the first grade at St. Monica's had a field trip to the Anza library. It was there that we applied for and received our first library cards. I used mine all the way up till I graduated from UC Berkeley. Did a lot of summer reading and school projects.
I used the 10th ave and Marina libraries also as well as the main library in later years. I remember in 1957 I was most interested in space since the Sputnik had just been launched that year. My great uncle told me he observed the satellite from the roof of his apartment building on Gough st, in the Marina.
