In my high school years, I knew the father of one of my classmates named Wayne M. Collins. He was an ACLU attorney and was on "Tokyo Rose's" legal staff. He used to rail against the JACL. I did not understand why until many years later when I learned that the JACL leadership emphasized the "C" in JACL supporting citizens over immigrants. The nuances of history take forever to appreciate and we are always learning. How fortunate I was to grow up here and know some of the great persons of our time.
